The photograph was taken from near what is now (2015), the Santander Bank. The present building was constructed in 1910 for the Union Bank of Manchester. A major feature is the clock tower, which was erected in memory of Mr W C Murgatroyd, Secretary of the Borough Education Committee. The bank was acquired by Barclays in 1919, though it retained it's name until 1940. The photograph may date from the 1980's. According to the Goad Plans, The Farm Shop appeared on Scotland Road between 1982 and 1984.
