Lieutenant Pilkington
This is one of a series of images that were created by Steve Baker of St Annes on Sea in 2012 using photographs of officers and men of the unit around the start of World War I. Steve has commented that 'The Lancashire Hussars were a Yeomanry troop active in the Lancashire area from the mid 19th century until the 1960's and have strong connections with the Duke of Lancaster's regiment. In the First World War they initially were used for home defence purposes, but in 1915 the regiment was sent piecemeal to Palestine and Flanders, the regiment was reformed as a cavalry regiment in July 1916 for the expected breakthrough on the Somme.'

In 2012 Steve was part of a group that received Lottery Funding to research the Hussars and recreate the drill and uniforms at public displays.
