Bank House
Accrington
This building was erected on part of the site of Woolhurst Bank, from which the name was derived. It was built by Robert Hargreaves, of the firm of Hargreaves Bros, of Broad Oak Printworks. He was the first chairman of the Accrington Local Board, and father of Mrs Robinson Aikman, whose fine and generous donations to the museum were much appreciated. Later residents at Bank House were Greens, Briggs and Bury, and was occupied by Alderman T E Higham of Accrington who was mayor in 1928.
It is in the Italian style of architecture, with well wooded grounds and a southerly aspect. In the foreground is the bowling green of the Grafton Memorial Club, Broad Oak Printworks.
