Aida is an opera composed by the Italian Giuseppe Verdi. It is set in Egypt and was commissioned to celebrate the opening of the Khedivial Opera House in 1871. The two main protagonists of the production are Aida, an Ethiopian Princess, and the King of Egypt, who are possibly the characters in this photograph from Burnley Operatic Society's performance of the opera in 1930.
