Fairhaven
John (Jack) Howson
We believe that this image is of men working on the development of a sewage works and pumping station in Fairhaven around 1929. The men are laying wooden supports for the pipe that would take the sewage out to sea.

The postcard was lent by Mrs J Tomlinson of Lytham St Annes to St Annes Library where it was scanned in October 2010. Jack Howson (middle row without a cap) was her husband's uncle. He worked for the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company in the 1920s and the Barrow shipyards during World War II.
