General notes

This water fountain is on the promenade close to the junction with East Bank Road. It was made by Walter Macfarlane and Co at the Saracen ironworks in Glasgow as were the bandstand, shelter and fountain which are also on the promenade. The fountain appears on the 1911 25" to 1 mile Ordnance Survey map.

The Scottish Ironwork website tell us that it is a "....Macfarlane No 18 drinking fountain as illustrated in their 6th edition catalogue c1883"
