Burnley Gazette reported (without any photo) on 19.11.1910, p. 7 that "There is no immediate prospect of a settlement of the miners' striket at Burnley....at the Butterfly Inn, Stanley Inn, and Miners' Rooms (Bank Hall) soup kitchens have been instituted, being voluntary efforts.
This image, donated by Peter Lambert in 2005, was taken at the Back of the Stanley Hotel, 164 Oxford Rd., Burnley, in an area known as Burnley Wood, the girl with the white jug is Mrs. D. Thompson, as reported in the Burnley Express of 15.2.1966. Zoom in to see caricature on back wall. The Stanley Hotel closed in June 2014.
