Schooner Ryelands, later known as Moby Dick, was built by Nicholson & Marsh at Glasson Dock, launched on 11th January 1887 and registered at the Port of Lancaster.
In 1948 was bought by RKO Pictures and used in Walt Disney's film Treasure Island (1950). In 1954 bought by Elstree Studios for the film Moby Dick (1956), also used in the TV series The Buccaneers (1956).
Since 1960 was moored in Morecambe, opposite Brucciani's, as a floating exhibit.
Unfortunately, she was destroyed by fire in 1972.
