Burnley Lane Temperance Cycling Club
Burnley
As the Temperance movement was closely allied with Methodist and Baptist chapels, Burnley Lane Cycling Club may have been Ebenezer P.S.A. cycling Club, based at Ebenezer Chapel, also known as Burnley Lane Baptist chapel. Colne Rd., Burnley. The P.S.A. movement (Pleasant Sunday Afternoon) originally sprang up to give working people something to do on Sunday afternoons to keep them away from drink. The picture would seem to be outside a tea room. Location unknown. Note the bugles for giving warnings and instructions on the road.
