Rosegrove Railway Station, Burnley
Burnley
Rosegrove Station was constructed by the East Lancashire Railway Company and it opened in 1848. The construction of the station led to large scale industrial and residential development in the surrounding area. Up to that point the surrounding area was low quality agricultural land.

Over the next 100 years the station grew and sidings were added due to its strategic location, close to Gannow junction. At its height the goods yard had a capacity for over 1,000 goods wagons. An engine shed was also built, which housed up to 50 steam locomotives until its demolition in 1968.

This marked the start of the decline of the station and its goods yards. By the time the M65 was completed in the 1980's, the station infrastructure, apart from one long platform had been demolished.
