Thornton
The railway station has been called Thornton Station and "Thornton for Cleveleys" Station over the years. The original station was opened in 1865. In the mid 1800s, the line was part of the direct link from London to Glasgow. The station closed in 1970 and the station buildings were demolished. However, the platforms still remain.

The postcard is addressed to a Mrs. Hood, of Newport, Monmouthshire. The message reads: "Dear C. I was sorry to hear about Tim & do hope he will soon be alright. I have sent the bed rest so expect you will get it tomorrow. Charlie is at Brighton staying with Lotties people. Let me know how Tim is. Hope you and the chicks are well. It was white over with snow this morning. With love to you all. Lily". The card is postmarked from Stockport, April 24, 1908.
