General notes
Top o'th Lane Farm on left. Cottages originally built for quarry workers on right. Tyson House in the distance. The workhouse was up a stony lane (now footpath to Holt Lane) opposite Tyson House. The two boys on the right were killed at Passchendaele in 1917. User comments: 'Top o' th' Lane cottages were originally built for rent by a number of private landlords around 1800 mainly for handloom weavers (hence the 'loom rooms') though there were some quarry workers there as well. Detailed research - "Top o' th' Lane, the Workhouse and the Weavers." available as pdf file on request.' 21/09/2023.
