In 1941 The Old Vic Company made Burnley's Victoria Theatre its base for touring productions throughout the North and Wales until the bomb-damaged London Old Vic re-opened in 1950. At the time of the image in February 1941, Dame Sybil was playing Lady Macbeth, her husband Lewis Casson was the producer and played Macbeth and her daughter played Lady Macduff.
