General notes

Walverden Reservoir was built in 1869, to provide water for the expanding town of Nelson. Within 10 years it proved insufficient for the towns needs and a new reservoir was built at Coldwell.
Beyond the reservoir can be seen Thaw House. In the distance, on the left can be seen James Nelson's Sports Club which was demolished in 2008.
