Whalley Church Font
The 15th Century Font is of the same yellow gritstone as the pillars supporting the roof over the Nave.

The hinged wooden cover is from the 17th Century and was placed there, and locked shut when the Font was not in use (some of the mechanism is still visible), to prevent the "unauthorized" taking of baptismal water which was widely believed to cure sickness.
