What is known locally as the 'Arches' is the railway viaduct. It is a 48 span structure crossing the Calder carrying the railway from Blackburn to Clitheroe. It was built between 1846 and 1850 and was part of the Bolton, Blackburn, Clitheroe and West Yorkshire Railway. It is of red brick and the longest viaduct in Lancashire. It is a listed structure. The central arches have impressive decorative chamfering.
