School house from the Hodder, Stoneyhurst
Stoneyhurst
Originally the site of a factory, Hodder Place was developed around the original owner's residence. It was bought in 1803 by Thomas Weld together with fifty acres of land and given to Stonyhurst College for use as a Jesuit Noviciate house and later became a preparatory school for the College. The building underwent extensions in 1836 and again in 1869 when the two towers were added. Towards the end of the twentieth century it was developed into private apartments.
