View on the postcard is of Ashton Gardens, formerly St.George's Gardens, renamed after the benefactor Lord Ashton. The War Memoirial can be seen in the background. After World War One the War Memorial was erected through the generosity of Lord Ashton. 15,000 people paid tribute, including 800 servicemen at the unveiling in 1924.
Postcard is addressed to Mrs.Floyd, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. The message reads: " I have been here nearly a fortnight with the family. The children are having a great time on the sands. Bill went home yesterday. K & I are staying until Friday. Love to all, K.F."
