Slaidburn
Slaidburn school celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2017. The school that is situated adjacent to St Andrew's Church was founded as a grammar school by the will of John Brannard (Brennand) dated 11th May 1717. The founder wished that any boys of the parish or neighbourhood should be instructed in the learned languages or in the English language only at the option of parents, by a clergyman or an usher "in priest or deacon's orders." The school is now named Brennand's Endowed Primary School and caters for children of the area up to the age of 11 years.
