River Hodder - The Source
Lamb Hill, Slaidburn
The source of the River Hodder is a small spring on Lamb Hill Fell around 9 kilometres/5 miles north-north-west of Slaidburn. After flowing eastwards it swings south-east to become a recognizeable river, designated as the River Hodder, by Cross of Greet Bridge from where it turns east, then south east to enter what is now Stocks Reservoir. En route it passes Catlow Farm on its left bank (see ECL20140107005 and 006) before being joined by Hare Clough Beck after it passes Kenibus (ECL20140107004).
The photograph shows the point where the spring emerges and what appears to be Edmundson Buck's own bicycle in the background, perhaps to "mark the spot" and/or give scale to the photograph.
