The Endowed school, on School Lane, was the church school attached to St. Paul's church Church Road, Skelmersdale. It ceased to be a church school and is now Crow Orchard School, named after a nearby farm. The school was remodelled in the fifties. It was rebuilt in 1911 for 268 children with a yearly income of about £90, founded and endowed in 1732 by Henry Ashurst and further endowed subsequently with land and money. John Pearce, master.
