General notes
Panelling showing Scarisbrick Hall before renovation in the 1860s. Scarisbrick Hall is the ancestral home of the Scarisbrick family who lived on the site from 1238 until 1946 when it became a teacher training college. The Victorian Gothic hall is now Grade 1 listed. The architect AWN Pugin completed work on the hall in 1845 for Charles Scarisbrick. Charles's sister Lady Ann Scarisbrick later employed Pugins son EW Pugin to renovate the hall in the 1860s.
The hall now houses an independent school.
