Photograph taken from the bottom of Haslingden Old Road shows the construction of the new by-pass in Rawtenstall, St Mary's Way, at its junction with Burnley Road and Newchurch Road (in the centre of the image). It shows the constrcution of the road at Tup Bridge, where it passes over the River Limey and was taken in about 1968.The building with the Masseys poster on the side is the Rams Head, which is now a beauty therapists and hairdressers but was originally a pub built in the early 19th Century. Higher Mill can be seen to the right of the photograph, in the process of being demolished.
