Jachouse is one of the most ancient buildings in Oswaldtwistle, built in the 16th century. The founder of the Rishtons of Jackhouse was Hugh, the third son of Ralph Rishton of Lower Antley Hall, who died in 1510. The Rishtons continued in possesion until the 18th century. Then following the Yates, Lonsdale and Greens. The granddaughter of William Rishton gained considerable notoriety by the disposal of her property. which led to litigation by her numerous relatives, who formed what became known as the 'Spanking Roger Clubs' from 1820 to 1880.
