Hapton Tragedy: Charity Football Match, Burnley
Burnley
In order to raise money for the families of the men who died in the Hapton Valley pit disaster, a charity football match was arranged. It took place on the sports ground at Bank Hall, and was contested between a National Coal Board team, made up of local miners, and an Ex-Clarets side. At half time the N.C.B. side were holding their own, with the match level a 2-2. In the second half, the former Burnley professionals showed their class, and ran out 6-2 winners.

Here, both sides can be seen bowing their heads for a minutes silence prior to the kick-off.
