Cromwell's Bridge over the River Hodder
Aighton, Bailey and Chaigley
The bridge once carried a packhorse trail over the River Hodder. It gets its name from its use by Cromwell's army when they marched from Gisburn to Preston, prior to the battle there in 1648.
In 1819 it was replaced by the Lower Hodder Bridge, a little way upstream.
