General notes
The lean to section on the left appears to be half of an 18th century building. The 3 storey centre section dates from the early 19th century, and here lived W Anderson in whose house, in one room were held Methodist services before 1824, when the first Wheatley Lane Methodist chapel was built. The Harpers Inn, the last section to be built on the right was erected at the end of the 19th century. The four cottages on the right were demolished in 1970/1971. The building on the right is Higher Harpers Farm.

The Inn was nicknamed "Who Could've Though It" by locals in relation to its previous use by the Methodists.
