The Winter Gardens building was officially opened in 1878. Since that date, various elements have been added to the site so that it is now a large entertainment complex incorporating a dozen or so venues, inlcuding theatre, ballroom and conference facilities. The Floral Hall was part of the original building of the 1870s.
