General notes
Icconhurst stands in a prominent position overlooking the Woodnook ravine a little above Shoe Mill. Originally, it was one of the vaccaries of the Forest of Accrington. In the 15th Century it was let to Edmund Waddington. From this time onward, it has been occupied as a farm by various local familities. Thomas Kenyon resided here in the reign of Henry VII and is noted as being the victor in a lawsuit over Abbot Paslew and others, who had obtained possession of the family estates. In 1527 he leased Icconhurst to Nicholas Rishton and Edward Kenryon for sixteen shillings and two pence (80p). The Cunliffe family resided here in the 17th Century. The present house was built in 1741 by Henry Tomlinson. By marriage, the Worsleys succeeded and a well known member was Henry.
