The first grammar school in Colne was situated in a building in the churchyard This was replaced in 1812 by a new building which closed in 1887. The school moved to a building on Linden Road and in the 1930's the building on Barrowford Road was constructed. In 1976 the building was taken over by Nelson and Colne College. In 2007 the college concentrated all its activities on its Reedyford site and sold the Barrowford Road building. In 2009 the building was converted into luxury apartments.
