Heys Farm Guest House was host to many visitors to the area including in 1931 Mohandas Karamchad Gandi also known as Mahatma Gandhi. He stayed for a few days in 1931 where he met cotton workers and saw the poverty endemic at that time. He was attending a conference to discuss the independence of India. The house probably hosted educational courses for adults at the time of the photo.
