The Odeon Cinema opened in Morecambe on September 2, 1937. It was a grand affair, with the opening ceremony performed by the then High Sheriff of Lancashire, Mr W J Garnett, and a performance by the Band and Pipers of the First Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers, conducted by T Kingston Jarvis.
