General notes

The firm of W.B. White began as spring makers in the 1850's. In 1878 they opened the red scar works at Primet Bridge Colne as loom makers. This was also the dwelling of the White's, and to celebrate the event W.B as he was known gave a supper to all of his employee's. He was well known and highly respected in Colne, his condemnation of strong drink made him a familiar figure at the many meetings held in the teetotal cause. The firm of Whites ceased business in 1976.
