Photograph shows Roughlee Old Hall, from above the stepping stones. Roughlee Hall is a 16th century building of local stone. The Victoria County History vol 6, p520 records an inscribed stone "This house was builded by M.N. In the year of our Lord 1536." Miles Nutter was the father of Richard Nutter the husband of Alice Nutter, one of the alleged Pendle Witches hanged at Lancaster in 1612.
