The Great Marquess is named after James Graham, the 1st Marquis of Montrose. It is a K4 class engine designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for the West Highland Line. Complete in 1938, it was in service until 1961 and then was bought for preservation. It worked on several preserved lines around the UK but is now (2020) at the Museum of Scottish Railways.
