Just over twenty-one years ago, on August Bank Holiday Saturday, 1913, the first film to be shown at the Whitehall Cinema, Morecambe was seen. Before this time the building had been used as a skating rink and a market, but owing to the enterprise of a Bradford family, the Howsons, who looked far ahead, it was altered into one of the then ''new'' cinemas.
