The trawler sank in June 1927 when she was driven onto Half Tide Rock in Ramsey Bay and broke up. The incident occured when the men aboard the Cevic were attempting to rescue the ship's lifeboat, which had got into trouble. A flare was sent up and the Ramsey lifeboat was launched. All the crewmen were saved, but the Cevic sank.
The men on board on this trip were Dick Collinson, J. Bywater, E. Salthouse, J. Hobbs, J. Dicks, J. Simms, P. Conigan, J. Kitchen, J. Harrison, T. Whiteside and W. Holden.

The remains of this vessel are still exposed at low tide at Ballure beach in the Isle of Man.
