General notes
Photograph shows the Grand Buildings in Rawtenstall. They were built in 1900 by Edmund Taylor Eastwood, cabinet maker and house furnisher and they stood opposite the library. In later years the building was split in to various shops and was bought by Rawtenstall Corporation in the 1930s. the buildings were demolished in the Town Centre Improvements of 1967. You may remember Nuttall's Fish and Chip Shop, Roland Billington's confectionary shop, Hanson's Betting Shop and Eric Shufflebotham's taxi service.
