General notes
This station served the town itself, with lines beyond continuing on to the jetty to connect with steamer traffic (where the train is coming from)
With the closure of Morecambe Harbour to commercial traffic after the opening of Heysham Harbour, the lines were beyond were reduced to sidings serving Ward's Shipyard, and in 1907 a new station (Morecambe Promenade) opened in place of this one.
This ornate roof with stone buildings replaced an earlier wooden structure, but the buildings seen on the right were dismantled, and the architectural elements reused there.
This station was closed itself in 1994, and replaced by a much simpler station on the site of that shown here.
