Queen Street Mill and St James Church, Burnley
Briercliffe, Burnley
A view of St. James' Church and the roof of the weaving shed, taken from the top of Queen Street Mill. It opened in 1895 and was owned and run by the Queen Street Manufacturing Company, which was a local co-operative. At the time of its closure in 1982 it was the last working steam powered mill in the country. After the closure it was converted into a working museum, which continues to maintain and use 300 of the original Lancashire looms.
