General notes

Built in mid 1960s to replace the dated Victorian town centre, by the 1990s it had become known as the 'eye-sore' that was responsible for the death of the town's shopping trade.
The Co-op Quality House can be seen on the left hand side. This was the flag ship store, extending onto three floors and also having a separate supermarket within the Arndale complex. The original Co-op store was on the same site as the Quality House and the Co-op was a key investor in the construction of the Arndale Centre.
