Officially known as the Abraham Ormerod Convalescent Home, it was founded in 1891, and in 1924 contained 125 beds. Girls were received from the 5-14 years of age, and boys from 5-10. The Home was open to visitors from 2-5pm each day. The postcard is stamped and postmarked and written to "Mrss Rawcliffe 20 Bushell Street, Preston". It reads: "Dear Mother I have nothing to say to you this time Please give this post-card to our Maggie for all". The correspondent's name was not written on.
