General notes
James Taylor became the possessor of Moreton Hall in 1799. The family emanated from Baxenden district, Lane Ends and Friar Hill. Linked up with the Worsleys of the Laund the name became Worsley-Taylor. Whilst at Friar Hill a Ralph, William and John Taylor are mentioned in 1533 in connection with a surrender of land. Miss Pilling-Taylor died in 1881, and bequeathed the Moreton Estate to Sir Henry Wilson Worsley-Taylor, Bart. On his death the estate was purchased by the Sawley and Moreton Farms, limited.
