Willow House, St James Street, which is now the public library, erected 1908.
The House was the residence of James Law, solicitor, who died in 1858. The mechanics Institution was built in 1878 on what was the garden of Willow House and until it was demolished to make way for the library the House formed part of the Institution.
St James Street used to be a footpath from Union Street to St James' Church known as Woodcock Trees.
