This view is taken from the Woodnook district, on the slope of a hill near Rose Place. In the foreground is Woodnook Spinning Mill, in the centre left is Christ Church, extreme left is Arden Hall with the woods of Plantation Mill and Mill Chimney, just above, Slate Pits Farm can be seen. Leemings Farm, Leafield Farm, High Riley cottages, Spire Farm with Tag or Bluebell Clough, extreme right. The summit of Hameldon, the highest point of the view, with the crest of Moleside in the centre, and the higher slopes of the Coppice on the left. A very comprehensive view of the east side of Accrington, and not without its beauty. [Caption written in the 1920s when the photograph was on display at Oak Hill Museum]
