General notes
Green Haworth, in Saxon times, was a green homestead among the wild, bleak moorlands. Bedlam was recognised, by the monks of Kirkstall, when defining their boundaries, in the 12th century. The cottages became known as Moorgate. Mr Robert Dickinson, of Moorgate, was 5 when the photo was taken, in 1925. The hens belonged to his family.
