Huncoat was well known for the Whit Monday processions of the Sunday schools from the Baptist and Methodist chapels and St Augustine's. Councillor Richard Watson, Mayor of Accrington 1928-29, is pictured in the centre of the photograph wearing a bowler hat and holding a hymn sheet. He died in 1930.
