General notes

Humplistilt Rin and Dame Foot

These two funny little grotesque figures belong to the class of Gnomes, in that realm of imagination beloved by children as Fairyland.
Immortalised by Shakespeare in his "Midsummer Night's Dream," and other plays as Sprites, Pucks and Elfins; and recreated by Sir James Barrie in modern times by his creation of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up, significant of the spirit of boyhood, which should dominate our lives. These two figures are suitable placed beneath the shelving rock, as creatures of a region beyond our ken, whose haunts are to be sought -
"among the grass. And seem
to breathe of Fairyland."
