Albert was a well known character in the Barrowford and Nelson area. He was a local historian and inventor - he attempted the world manpowered flight record in his home-made plane, The Mayfly. He invented an ultra violet reflection system for safety in dense fog, a static powder system for stove enamelling and a new type of mousetrap.
