General notes
Lady Nellie Peel (nee Yates) was the wife of the first Sir Robert Peel and mother of the second Sir Robert Peel, statesman and Prime Minister of England. A romantic interest is attached to the courtship of Lady Peel who's father was a partner in the firm along with the Peels. Her father, William yates, the son of a Blackburn innkeeper, Lady Peel in her young days was quite an attractive figure and her engagement to Mr Peel was foreshadowed. She fulfilled her duties and dignities in later life and upheld the reputation of her husband in a most charming way. In state and ceremonial affairs, her ladyship met every need and was an attractive personality in all walks of life.
